Join us for a fun-filled day of English language immersion at the English Carnival @ UM 2023! This exciting event will take place on Sat Jun 10 2023 from 8.00 A.M. (GMT+8) to Sun Jun 11 2023 5.00 A.M. (GMT+8) at Dewan Tunku Canselor, Universiti Malaya, Kuala Lumpur.

 

Why Should You Join Us?

At the English Carnival @ UM 2023, you’ll have the opportunity to participate in a variety of interactive activities and games that will help you improve your English language skills while having fun. You’ll also be able to learn more about AI’s role in education via our UMxEC talk sessions and enjoy performances by young children. There are also workshops for you to delve into the worlds of book writing and publishing, acting, songwriting and public speaking.

 

Our Vision and Mission

We aim to bridge worlds through education. It is our primary belief that English language skills are vital in paving the way for personal development relative to today’s economy and in turn society improvement. This is because English is a lingua franca and helps to establish a middle ground for inter-community interaction in real life and computer-mediated communication. Therefore, we envision that this carnival will highlight the key differences between the three departments and in turn attract future students’ attention to pursue these courses.

 

The Organisers

This is a student-led initiative by students from these departments:

• English Language and Linguistics
• English Literature
• Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL)

We are also partnered with and guided by Go International Group Dotcom, an independent Omni-platform Media Group seeking to create impact in climate change, gender equality, youth empowerment and human rights.
